In One Wave – Just a Drop in the Ocean, Gregory Evans returns to origin – both personal and elemental.
This psychedelic image began as an experiment, a monoprint, an encounter with process without certainty, and bears as tribute to Rick Griffin (as does much of his work), the prototypical surf artist of all time. Artist Gregory Evans was driven to explore monoprint techniques more deeply after having done this only once before – it was a journey to find viability. The result is not a literal seascape but an elemental event – blue forms heave and morph before a radiant background, suspended in a field of molten gold.
The viewer stands at the threshold between control and surrender, watching movement that cannot be contained.
One Wave – Just a Drop in the Ocean has the wave emerge as a gesture, nothing controlled. The form is seen in motion rather than being imposed upon it.
This places the work within Elemental Myth, where natural forces mirror the creative act itself. Water becomes both subject and collaborator.
The image doesn’t aim for precision – it rreaches out for encounter.
One Wave – Just a Drop in the Ocean is a BwahT poster reproduction of a limited edition monoprint series.
