This BwahT posterprint is taken from an original monoprint in a series of twelve unique prints. Gregory Evans revisits the archetype of the deluded hero – a hero who claims his own main character energy without apology. This is a cat who knows where it’s at.
In MAIN CHARACTER ENERGY – It’s STRICTLY PERSONAL, Don and his companion-squire Sancho move forward with purpose, their direction fixed by a reality that exists fully within one particular mind. The threats they approach are absent from the image, yet they are most certainly near.
Stories within stories: this is really a tale of two – a knight-chevalier and a farmhand-squire. From near beginning to end, Don Quixote descends from illusion toward reality while Sancho’s spirit ascends from reality toward illusion. That dissonance defines the work. It’s what makes us all main characters in our own stories. It’s a blending.
Within the BwahT system, this belongs to Quest Myth, where journey overrides analysis. The Don does not need the world to agree in order to act within it. An unsung hero is always the most fitting character to answer the call.
The companion and his donkey ground the scene – his fatigue a quiet witness to both the vision and its distance from consensus reality.
