You know, they say springtime is a time of openings, of bursts of life that once set in motion can indicate what fruitfulness will come to you in the following seasons. Around here it feels like spring has hit the fan a bit earlier than I had planned.
Which brings me to the next “you know, they say…”
You know they (also) say that as man plans, god laughs. Well, I’m not too certain that I know much of what man is, nor do I know much of an unknowable thing called god. Nor can I say I can hear any laughing, though I might be giggling a bit right now, due to my pleasure, for the most part, in whats happening.
So, let’s tell ya’ll what’s going on around here! Its still cold, freezing in the mornings, but I have, in spite of promises to myself, reopened my studio from its winter hibernation. This isn’t something I’m thrilled with, but it must be done for some pleasure to come to me shortly. You see, just this last Wednesday, four days ago, I found that I’d be participating in a group show with a dozen or so other local artists. So, in order to have something to present at this near-month long show, I had to get back in my studio to finish a large canvas (approximately 75 X 150 cms – that translates to maybe 30 x 60 inches?). This is one of two bigguns I’d started last fall, and now, this one is finished!
I’ll also be hanging a buncha my minis that I’ve been showing around social media (you’ve probably seen a few here and there) while winter dragged its dregs around the mud caked on the bottom of my shoes and as I watched my car turn slowly green with mosses, algae and lichens and a bit more of that aforementioned mud. Being Spring is almost here, I suppose my little pony will soon be having its annual wash – yeah, right.
So, here’s some further news regarding springtime and openings. I’ve decided to reopen my old blog, but with a “brand” new look, which I suppose is unlike a “generic” new look. I used to have my blog buried as a back page to my website, but now, I will have my blog as a dynamic and ever-changing front page, and the rest of a soon to be built website behind the blog. Meanwhile, I’ve been reloading a bunch of old posts and still have many more to do. Plus, I have been adding a few new posts in anticipation to this day.
This day, the day I’ve been anticipating for quite some time is now here. So, its today, in place of doing my regular weekend #artreport, that I’m putting this out. My new blog is now open!
Let’s see what happens from here.
