Studio Shutdown (Video post)

1–2 minutes

At some point most recently, I’d decided out of frustration to move out of my studio for the winter. Working in there was an either too hot, or too cold, situation, only due to my laziness about correcting the way I heat the place. A system without a thermostat is great, I suppose, over nothing else, but when I’m all geared up and in psyche-mode to paint, I’d find myself ignoring the heat as it got hotter and hotter, only because I’d just need to express my obsessiveness in doing just “one more thing.”

Eating can be the same kind of thing, watching hours and hours pass until I’d realize its two in the morning and I still haven’t had lunch yet.

Anyway, I’d decided to move my studio into the dining room of the house until, after having everything there that I’d need to pass a good winter with brush in hand, I realized that this, too, just wouldn’t work. So, on that day, I did the dreaded “Studio Shutdown.”

The plan became that I would spend the winter drawing – in the house! I would do nothing in the studio until the natural temps became somewhat normal again. I would draw and draw and draw until I had so many drawings done, I would never lack for ideas to put on canvas!

Below, you’ll see a few examples of what I’ve already done, and what I’ll continue doing until it warms up or the world ends.
