Cool Paisley

1–2 minutes

On Venice Boardwalk in the early 70s, there was no Alice to keep our heads fed, but we did have this guy (and a few others). He was born as an Albert Cool, but picked up the name Paisley (because of his predominant fashion statement) before the Summer of Love at the Haight Ashbury’s Human Be-in in January of 1967. Anyway, once he got to Venice, people only knew him as Cool, but he’d always correct them with his name Paisley. The Cool stuck, so as the years passed, his last name became his first, and he was known as Cool Paisley, much to his dismay.

Anyway, he was also our local spiritual advisor.
